The Penang Family Health Development Association (FHDA), established in 1961 then as the Penang Family Planning Association, is a non-profit, non-government organisation with charity status located in the state of Penang, Malaysia. We believe in ensuring the fulfillment of sexual and reproductive rights for all, including universal access to high-quality sexual and reproductive health services and comprehensive sexuality education, to lead healthy and empowered lives. We are committed to sexual reproductive healthcare as a human right for all.

We provide access to a wide range of services for the whole family including wellness screening, contraception, unwanted pregnancy and fertility screening, breast and cervical cancer screening, HIV testing, positive living support group, menopause screening, and also programmes for ageing population and young people.

FHDA is a member association of the Federation of Reproductive Health Associations, Malaysia (FRHAM). FRHAM is a national non-government organisation leading the field of promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Malaysia. It is an affiliate of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

FHDA is a partner organization of the Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC) and we provide a complementary service for the AIDS programme of the Ministry of Health, Malaysia.

We won the Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Award 2012 for community work on AIDS. This award is presented by the Malaysian AIDS Foundation and the Patron is the wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

FHDA depends on funds for projects from donors/sponsors and international or national grants. For administration overheads, advocacy and incubation of new initiatives or charity services we have to raise our own income from public donations and fees for services.
